Governor-Elect Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller Continue Building Historically Inclusive Transition Team

“This is a team that looks like the state of Maryland,” says Governor-Elect Wes Moore

“This diverse and deeply experienced team will create a Maryland that leaves no one behind,” says Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller

BALTIMORE  (Nov. 29, 2022) – Today, Governor-Elect Wes Moore and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller are announcing the members of the Executive Policy Committees. This is the latest in a string of moves to build the most inclusive Transition Team in the history of Maryland.

“This is a team that looks like the state of Maryland,” said Governor-Elect Wes Moore. “I’m so incredibly proud that we have built the most inclusive gubernatorial transition team in the history of Maryland. Together, this team will make bold actions that will benefit generations of Marylanders, no matter the color of their skin or the zip code they live in.

As Chair, Lt Governor-Elect Miller has already started to build out a historically inclusive Transition Team.

The Lieutenant Governor-Elect has named 236 committee members to the Moore-Miller transition team. Additionally, over 1,300 Marylanders have signed up to serve as at-large policy committee members.

Lieutenant Governor-Elect Miller is the first immigrant and the first woman of color elected to statewide office in Maryland, and has been appointed by Governor-Elect Moore to chair the transition. As chair, she leads an inclusive, statewide transition process alongside key leaders to ensure the Moore-Miller Administration is ready to hit the ground on day one with the urgency this moment demands to meet the needs of Maryland families.

“This diverse and deeply experienced team will create a Maryland that ‘leaves no one behind,’” said Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller. “From day one, I’ve sought to include the most experienced Marylanders, from a diversity of backgrounds, to lead our transition. That commitment and investment in leadership has yielded a historically inclusive team. That’s why I’m so proud to announce the members of our Executive Policy Committee, who represent all corners of this state and are dedicated to creating a bold policy agenda that honors the Governor-Elect’s and my promise to leave no one behind.”

The Transition includes majority-minority representation across committees, cross-generational representation, members from every region of Maryland, and women leaders from across the state chairing policy committees.

“We are doing things differently,” said Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller. “Too often, transitions lack openness and public engagement, but our administration believes that in order to build a better Maryland for everyone, we need all voices at the table. Together, we will shape a comprehensive  and far-reaching policy agenda that leaves no one behind.”
