Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller announces two new Steering Committee members and Transition Policy Executive Committee Co-Chairs

“Today, I’m proud to announce two new Steering Committee members and a list of Transition Policy Executive Committee Co-Chairs who will help us to boldly, and swiftly, create a Maryland where no one is left behind,” says Lieutenant Governor-Elect Miller

BALTIMORE (Nov. 17, 2022) — Today, Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller announced two new Steering Committee members. She also announced the Transition Policy Committee Co-Chairs – an inclusive and innovative group of leaders that will guide major policy decisions of the administration in the coming months.

Miller named Montgomery County Councilmember Will Jawando and Joe Gaskins, Co-Chairman of the Maryland Business-Clergy Partnership, as Steering Committee members.

“Today, I’m proud to welcome two new Steering Committee members. Our transition leaders will help us to boldly and swiftly create a Maryland where ‘no one is left behind,” said Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller.

“Councilman Jawando and Joe Gaskins are critical additions to our transition team. We have so much work to do together to ensure that this is Maryland’s decade. I look forward to working closely with Councilman Jawando and Joe Gaskins, and our entire transition team, to lay the foundation for a stronger, healthier, and wealthier Maryland.”

Miller also appointed the Transition Policy Committee Co-Chairs.

“I’m also so incredibly excited to announce that we have appointed our transition policy co-chairs, an incredibly diverse and experienced team that will lead us in our mission to create a stronger, more inclusive Maryland,” said Lieutenant Governor-Elect Aruna Miller. “This team has deep expertise, an incredible diversity of professional and lived experiences, and a demonstrated commitment to serving all Marylanders. Their work will actualize a strong policy agenda that will ensure every Marylander has the opportunity to thrive.”

The co-chairs will lead nine policy committees with 208 members, hailing from all corners of our state and representing the great diversity Maryland has to offer. We are excited that over 900 at-large members have already signed up to engage with our policy committees in this critical work, as part of our historically inclusive transition process. Gov.-Elect Wes Moore and Lt. Gov.-Elect Aruna Miller have been consistently clear — the people closest to the challenges are closest to the solutions. We’re excited that so many Marylanders are rolling up their sleeves to engage in these critical policy issues to make a better Maryland together.
